Putonghua: Teaching Purpose
1. Arousing students’ interest in learning Putonghua.
2. Training students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
3. Developing students’ ability to engage in self-learning.
4. Developing students’ attitude for learning Putonghua.
By cooperating with large-scale activities on campus such as the "Speech under the National Flag", the Putonghua subject brings our students' language potential into full play. In order to establish more platforms on which our students express themselves freely, we engage our students who took part in the Chinese Recitation Competition during the Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival in making a short documentary titled "Shining Stage". Furthermore, we also make a special effort in designing a "Putonghua Passport" to engage our students in self-learning. In response to the school policy of biliteracy and trilingualism, a wide variety of activities such as storytelling, riddles, and interactive games are made available to each class on a regular basis under the support of parent volunteers to add more fun to Putonghua learning.
